  • DHR Visitation Room Makeovers

There are six visitation rooms at DHR for supervised visitations. Currently, the rooms are painted white with used toys and often broken or stained furniture. Groups could adopt 1-2 rooms to redo with paint, a mural, new furniture, etc.

Contact us if you’re interested in sponsoring a room makeover and we will connect you with next steps!

  • Gear Up the Grad Sponsorship

The Nest will host a second year of “Gear Up the Grad” with DHR for graduating foster children from Jefferson County. Those with plans to go to two or four year colleges or trade programs will be paired with a buddy and given a budget to shop with during the event for supplies for dorm or apartment rooms. An annual sponsorship of this program could include as many grads as desired, as well as attendance at the event to support and get the know the grads.

  • DHR Encouragement Projects

Supply DHR with a monthly lunch or snack to encourage and meet with team members at DHR offices downtown. This is a great way to connect with this group of community-facing advocates and let them know they are cared for in our county.

Please contact us if you’re interested and we will let you know details on how to set up a meal or snack drop-off!

Supply + Donate

donations for ongoing DHR Supply Needs

DHR regularly needs items like diapers, underwear, socks, pajamas, suitcases, and more for children entering care without basic items. Organizations could host a supply drive to raise funds or collect supplies for DHR on a yearly, semi-annually, or quarterly basis.

Groups could also volunteer to organize and clean the room where supplies are kept.

We are happy to help set up a donation drive or room clean-up with you and your group!

donations to The Nest Foundation

The Nest regularly fulfills requests for beds, cribs, furniture, clothing, and more for families seeking reunification or biological families with children returning to their homes with few resources. Groups or individuals can donate new or gently used items, or fundraise to purchase items as needed.

The Nest Foundation partners with local churches and the Care Portal Network as a “'champion” to fulfill community needs.
